8:00am to 2:00pm

Location
West Bonita Cove (Mission Bay Park)

Description
Join San Diego Baykeeper in Mission Bay for Save the Bay (STB) when it returns to Bonita Cove again on Saturday, May 7th. STB gathers San Diegans on the water for a "Paddle for the Bay" while raising awareness of how we can all play a role in protecting our natural resources. This special event brings together hundreds of water sport enthusiasts, community leaders and concerned San Diegans to celebrate the bays and beaches that are essential to our way of life.

San Diego Baykeeper will host over a hundred local outrigger paddlers, paddle boarders, surf skiers & kayakers for "Paddle for the Bay" 2005. If you would like to participate in a race, find registration information below. We have kayaks available for the public to use during Kayak Nature Tours, Kayak Water Polo and Synchronized Kayaking.

Local environmental leaders including California State Assembly member Lori Saldana and San Diego City Council member Donna Frye will provide opening remarks and start the first race of the day.

San Diego Baykeeper invites you to experience Mission Bay from a new angle at Save the Bay! Bring the family to try a kayak for the first time. Everyone is welcome, admission is free. STB offers activities for children of all ages including a Beach & Bay Cleanup, REI's PEAK (Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids) Program activities, a SEACAMP Touch-Tank and interactive educational activities from the Mission Bay Aquatic Center and other local non-profits.
